We had the awesome opportunity to have some special guests visit Skinworks: Some men! Spa treatments are still relatively rare among men, so it was incredibly fun to have them visit us and experience spa treatments for the first time. Tristan, one of the first timers, wrote about his experience and shared it with us:

There are many firsts in life. Your first kiss, first time riding a roller coaster, first time behind the wheel of a car. Some are more memorable than others. For me, the first time going to spa is high on the list.

Try Something New

Sometimes life presents opportunities to try new things. I was invited to attend Skinworks for a facial and pedicure with a group of coworkers and friends. I had never been to a spa before. I had never had my hands or feet pampered. I have never experienced a facial before, but I decided to go and give it a try. Why not?

The Place

Rather than going to a traditional spa or salon, we went to Skinworks School of Advanced Skincare. Here, students provide the services under the supervision of a licensed professional. Theses students are on their way to becoming esthetics professionals. When you get services here, you are helping them get the experience they need to be successful in their careers. You are their guinea pigs.

For some people the idea of getting beauty services from a student may be scary. But speaking from experience, these folks know what they’re doing! The student that performed my facial and pedicure was named Randi. I asked her a plethora of questions during our time together. Her knowledge of products and skincare was impressive. She had several recommendations for me to incorporate into my skincare regimen and specific products to use. Her knowledge was perfectly complemented by great customer service and professionalism. She also took the time to explain what all of the products she used were and how they would help me.

The Experience

Before going to Skinworks, I had never set foot in a ‘real’ spa. I immediately felt relaxed and comfortable when I walked into Skinworks. The interior was beautiful and welcoming. The front desk staff greeted me and helped me feel right at home. I was surprised that this is what the school looked and felt like!

The Facial

Randi showed me to the room where I would get my facial. She talked me through the process of getting a facial and what to expect. Getting a facial for the first time was not what I was expecting. It was soothing, relaxing, and revitalizing. I loved it!

The Pedicure

After my facial I went into the room of thrones for me pedicure. Again, my experience was amazing. It was relaxing and I felt like I was being treated like royalty. Once my pedicure was finished, my feet were softer that smoother than they have ever been! The results were astonishing. Now I understand why people get this done!
