We had the chance this month to interview another one of the fantastic people that work hard to make Skinworks outstanding! Rachel Reynolds is a master esthetics program instructor education lead at the school. Her passion for esthetics shines through everything she does, so we’re thrilled that her role puts her in touch with everyone else at the school! If you’re considering enrolling in an esthetics program, she’s someone you’ll want to meet!
About Rachel Reynolds
Before diving into esthetics, Rachel worked in medical offices doing insurance verifications and preauthorizations. It didn’t take long for Rachel to decide that she was sick of working a desk job, so she took the leap and went back to school for esthetics. She always had an interest in esthetics and knew that she would enjoy doing it.
Rachel graduated from Skinworks’ esthetics program in 2012 and started working in spas right away. She gained a lot of valuable experience and learned tricks of the trade during that time. In 2014 she started working at Skinworks and is now the education lead and master esthetics instructor for our school. She also recently opened her own spa named Skincare by Rachel on May 1st of 2018, and has been serving clients in her own space since!
Rachel’s Role at Skinworks
Rachel has two main roles at Skinworks. She is an instructor for our master esthetics program during the day, where she works with students who wish to offer advanced esthetics services to their clients. She covers many topics and techniques, ranging from skin theory to services for medical spas. Rachel strives to ensure that our students are prepared to offer some of the latest skin care services in both traditional spas and medical spas alike!
Rachel also works at Skinworks as our education lead. She ensures that all of our teachers and students have the resources they need to excel in class. She always jumps in to help students or teachers if they are having problems. She is integral to the school in ensuring that Skinworks provides an outstanding experience!
What Rachel Loves About Skinworks
During her education at Skinworks, Rachel always knew she wanted to teach esthetics. She absolutely loves working with students and helping them get the same education she did. On top of that, Rachel gets to teach things you can only learn through practical experience and spending time with clients! She loves giving students the chance to thrive, succeed, and fall in love with the industry that she loves too!
Another huge reason Rachel loves Skinworks is the owner, Natalie Parkin. Rachel says that Natalie is a fantastic businesswoman and is a huge part of the what makes the culture at Skinworks so positive. Natalie works very hard and strives to make attending Skinworks a great experience for everyone! Skinworks changed Rachel’s life so she has a deep love of the school and the culture that helped her to become who she is today!
Advice for New Students
When asked about her advice for new or potential Skinworks students, Rachel says:
”You should have a passion for the industry and know this is what you want to do. Come prepared and ready to jump right in and learn as much as you can. We teach everything you need for basic education, and we offer so much more as well.”
One of the ways Rachel recommends you take your education above and beyond is by paying close attention to the guest speakers that regularly visit Skinworks. In the years since Rachel’s graduation we have started inviting guests to Skinworks to speak, so she highly recommends listening carefully and absorbing as much information as you can!
