We live in a world where technology is always changing. The esthetics industry is no exception. New trends, treatments, products, and tools are constantly popping up. At Skinworks we stay on top of what’s trending because it’s our job to prepare students to become successful estheticians. To progress in the modern esthetics industry, you need to know more than how to do facials and makeup. Here are five popular treatments that could advance your future career!
Photo Rejuvenation
We all want our skin to look flawless, right? This treatment uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to reduce the appearance of common skin concerns like sun spots, brown spots, melasma, rosacea, and distended capillaries. It can also help slow signs of aging like wrinkles and spots. Photorejuvenation is minimally invasive and can leave clients with a complexion that looks smooth, clear, and youthful.
Collagen Induction Therapy (Microneedling)
Collagen induction therapy (CIT) and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI) are both minimally invasive skin treatments that use fine needles. Needles are inserted into the skin to stimulate collagen that already exists. This reduces the look of wrinkles, fine lines, large pores, and scars. This is a quick procedure that requires little to no downtime afterward, which makes it a great option for busy people living in a fast-paced world.
Skin Rejuvenation Peel (Chemical Peel)
Chemical peels are designed to resurface skin and promote the growth of new, healthy tissue. Our skin rejuvenation peel is a great way to improve hyperpigmentation, dehydration, acne, and other common skin concerns. A chemical solution is applied to the skin which causes the outermost layer to eventually peel off and reveal the healthier layers beneath. Four treatments will be performed over a series of 10 weeks for the best results.
Microdermabrasion
This minimally invasive procedure uses gentle crystals to polish and sand the outer layer of skin. Advanced exfoliation like this can improve the look of sun damage, wrinkles, stretch marks, blackheads, fine lines, acne scars, melasma, age spots, and other common skin issues. For the most benefit, a series of six treatments is recommended. The recovery time for microdermabrasion takes just one to four days.
Laser Hair Removal
No one wants to spend time worrying about shaving. Laser hair removal uses a concentrated beam of light to remove unwanted hair quickly. Hair absorbs the laser’s light and that energy then turns into heat. This heat will then block the hair follicles so it’s more difficult for hair to grow. While it won’t permanently remove hair, it can prevent hair growth for several months and is a great alternative to shaving or waxing.
