Chances are that when you enter a spa, you’re not only expecting a service that is relaxing and enjoyable, but one that also benefits your skin’s overall health. Pedicures are no different. In fact people love pedicures for that very reason. Soaking feet in hot water and massaging them are just some steps of a pedicure that make it a relaxing treatment that people can look forward to. While other steps, like trimming nails and exfoliation, ensure that the skin is also benefiting from the treatment even after leaving the spa. At Skinworks student spa*, our more natural way of providing pedicures means that every step is both relaxing in the moment and helps your skin’s health after it’s done. If you’re curious about this treatment’s steps, then read more to find out what you can expect from a pedicure and how we make different!

You can’t have a relaxing pedicure without soaking your feet in some nice, hot water. It feels amazing on your skin and it’s a great way to relax after a long day. It’s relaxing, but it’s also beneficial for your skin as well. A hot foot soak is great for soothing your muscles, hydrating your skin, and can help relieve you of aches and pains in your feet. This step also softens your skin, which helps them easier to exfoliate later in your pedicure. At Skinworks you’ll be treated to a luxurious soak!
Now that your skin has soaked, it’s ready for some exfoliation! This is an important step for your skin because it helps get rid of dead skin and makes your skin feel smooth and healthy after your spa visit. No one wants dry and cracked skin on their heels. It can often be embarrassing and painful.
There’s no doubt that exfoliation is good for your skin, but sometimes the process can be just as painful as your dry and cracked skin. Have you ever gone to a spa where it feels like they’re scrubbing your feet so hard that they start to turn red and feel raw? When you come get a pedicure at Skinworks we want you to feel confident that the treatment will benefit you, while also keeping you relaxed during your pedicure. We make sure not to scrub your feet too hard while also ensuring that your feet receive proper exfoliation techniques so your skin feels and looks better when you leave.
It’s important to keep up on your skin’s health and trimming your nails is one step you shouldn’t forget about. When thinking about proper hygiene, nails may not come to mind for a lot of people, but they’re definitely an area you should keep a consistent cleaning regimen with. Dirt and other harmful substances can easily get into your toenails and can cause infection. That’s why pedicures involve this step and why at Skinworks we make sure to cut your nails in a safe and effective way!
You can’t forget to moisturize! No matter what skin type you have, your skin care routine should include this important step. Moisturizing your feet can help provide relief if you’ve been suffering from dry and cracked feet. We know this step can’t be overlooked and that’s why we include a masque and moisturizer as part of our pedicure. Since Utah is a dry climate, we can’t stress how important this step really is.
Not only is this step so important especially for people living in a dry climate, but it’s also an extremely relaxing part of the pedicure. Just sit back and relax while we massage your feet with products that help keep your skin smooth and moisturized!
Apply the Nail Polish
It wouldn’t be a proper pedicure without some nail polish! Choosing your color and seeing how well it goes with your skin is one of the best parts about a pedicure. We love seeing how people react to their new color and we also love that our guests don’t have to worry about any harmful chemicals. Unlike other spas, Skinworks only uses nail polish and we never use gel. That means you won’t have to worry about any harmful chemicals being added to your nails.
